Bayan Ancient Tree, also known as Kayu Putih, stands in Banjar Bayan in Tua village, Tabanan. Its pale massive trunk and enormous root system have grown into a natural sculpture.
Scale is what makes it extraordinary: only a person standing beside the interwoven roots reveals how large it really is.
Beside a small local temple, the place feels calm, old and slightly mystical compared with the busy south. It fits naturally into a Tabanan route with Jatiluwih and nearby waterfalls.
