Bali Handara Gate

The famous Balinese gates you probably saw on Instagram before arriving.

Build a route

Bali Handara Gate stands among the cool green mountains of north Bali. Two halves of a traditional candi bentar frame a straight road towards forested slopes.

Early morning brings mist, softer light and fewer people. The gates are not the entrance to an ancient temple but to Handara Golf & Resort, so the stop is mainly about architecture, scenery and photography and usually takes 20–40 minutes.

Include it in a wider highland route with Ulun Danu Beratan, Lakes Buyan and Tamblingan, Banyumala Waterfall and Bedugul.
