Besakih, the Mother Temple of Bali, is not one temple but a vast complex of shrines, stairs, gates and courtyards on the slope of Mount Agung.
It is one of the island’s most important religious places. Follow local visiting rules and treat ceremonies with respect. On clear days, Agung rises above the complex.
