The Gili Islands lie beside Lombok and consist of Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno. There are almost no cars; distances are short, the water is clear and snorkelling is excellent.
Trawangan is the largest and most social, Air balances restaurants and relaxed beaches, and Meno is the quietest and most romantic.
Underwater, you can swim with sea turtles, explore reefs and see the Nest sculpture near Gili Meno. Trawangan also has an alternative party scene, but psilocybin is illegal in Indonesia and should not be treated as a legal attraction.
Stay at least two or three days to settle into the islands’ rhythm.
